This strategic pact was finalized during the Artificial Intelligence Forum 2026, which was jointly organized by the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana, the U.S. Embassy in Accra, the U.S. Commercial Service, and the USTDA. Held at the Marriott Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the forum gathered key government officials, industry leaders, and technology partners to evaluate Ghana's digital trajectory.

    The agreement is designed to support the expansion of affordable and reliable digital connectivity throughout the nation by utilizing established power grid corridors for fibre rollout. The signing ceremony carried high-level diplomatic and ministerial backing, witnessed by U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires Rolf Olson and Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George. This initiative arrives as the country pursues an ambitious technology agenda that demands robust physical foundations to underpin modern computational workloads and enterprise expansion.

    During the forum, Minister George articulated the government's vision for artificial intelligence under the National AI Strategy launched by President John Dramani Mahama on April 24, 2026.
