Nairobi to Host 3rd Gaming Tech Summit Africa (GTSA) in June 2026
Nairobi is set to host the third edition of the Gaming Tech Summit Africa (GTSA) in early June 2026, creating a high-level platform for regulators and operators to harmonize tax policies and licensing frameworks across the continent’s rapidly expanding gaming sector.
Building on the momentum of its previous editions, the Gaming Tech Summit Africa (GTSA) will return to Nairobi in early June 2026. This third edition aims to solidify Kenya’s position as a regional hub for gaming regulation and technological innovation. The summit has grown into a critical forum for the African gaming ecosystem; the 2025 edition saw participation from 22 African nations, 26 regulatory bodies, and over 400 delegates, including 50 major operators.
The 2026 summit arrives at a pivotal moment for the industry, which is currently navigating a complex landscape of "Licensing Fragmentation" and "Tax Policy Inconsistencies." Unlike previous years which focused largely on market entry, the 2026 agenda is heavily weighted toward high-level policy dialogues. Working sessions will bring together government officials and private sector leaders to discuss the creation of a more unified regulatory environment that balances revenue generation with investor protection.
A primary focus of the upcoming summit will be "Compliance Challenges" in an era of digital-first betting. As mobile money integration continues to drive record volumes in East Africa, regulators are seeking new ways to implement responsible gaming measures and robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML) protocols without stifling innovation. Technology providers will showcase the latest in AI-driven compliance tools and secure payment gateways designed specifically for the African market’s unique infrastructure.
Beyond regulation, the GTSA 2026 will explore the "Gamification of Fintech" and the rise of e-sports as a legitimate investment asset class in Africa. By fostering direct communication between innovators and the authorities who govern them, the summit aims to reduce the "regulatory lag" that often follows rapid technological adoption in the continent's entertainment and sports sectors.
Why This Matters
