Amazon Web Services has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Kenya's Konza Technopolis Development Authority to accelerate cloud adoption, expand digital skills development, and deploy advanced infrastructure across the country. Senior leadership from both organizations alongside government stakeholders gathered at the technopolis to sign the pact, which establishes a framework for technological advancement and economic participation within East Africa's expanding digital ecosystem.

Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon Web Services will provide crucial technical leadership for the deployment of an AWS Outpost at Konza, enabling robust hybrid cloud solutions for local enterprises and public institutions. The partnership centers on four core pillars encompassing business development, skills training, technology alignment, and start-up enablement. Alongside this infrastructure rollout, the initiative establishes a dedicated Startup and Innovation Centre of Excellence aimed at fostering homegrown technological solutions.

Public sector institutions will receive targeted support to facilitate seamless cloud adoption, while Konza Technopolis Development Authority staff and Kenyan youth gain direct access to Amazon Web Services certification courses and professional technical mentorship. Participating start-ups will benefit from allocated cloud credits and enhanced partner network access, allowing early-stage ventures to leverage enterprise-grade tools traditionally reserved for larger global corporations.
